Ricordi...Volontariato a Calcutta

I was told so so many things before leaving: that it would be tough and difficult, that I wouln't be able to bear the strain, the cultural diversity, the dirt, the traffic and poverty. I was told that Calcutta would have been a "punch in my stomach," that I would only want to take the first plane back home.

Let's run away

"Goodnight Darling, take care".
E ha continuato così, col prossimo bagno.

2 AM , Saturday , Chelsea.

Keyra comes from Nigeria, she has been working in London for five months, cleaning the toilets of a club, fighting with girls drunken on Saturday nights, the weekdays of overworking to forget. Keyra doesn’t like here but she had no choice.
" I came here to put money aside but I hope to return home soon. Everything is fine in my country, it’s just the economy that is bad. I want to come back as soon as possible”.
London is beautiful, charming under the Christmas lights of Carnaby Street, magic in the music of Oxford Circus. London asks for your soul , selling it in the unique boutiques of Christopher Place, and leaves you empty after two cocktails and a couple of shots .

"I thought of home every time I miss my points of reference, all the times I feel lost, looking for my place. In these months I' ve discovered how much it hurts to beg love and the void that remains when important people fade away. But, if something is missing, a lot has been given to me. But I don’t know how long it will last.

She looked at me and smiled.

" Goodnight Darling , take care" .
And she turned to the next bathroom.
